Heaven’s Gate

54 Raven

Rhiannon, Doug, Sandy, and Doreen moved into the master suite the last week of July. We finally gave up and partitioned a kids’ dormitory off from the big bedroom. There were fewer of us sleeping there on a regular basis. Josh, Cassie, Mary, Ruth, and Robert had moved back over to the Clinton house. Nikki was working on her next project and sometimes didn’t emerge from the Writer’s Cottage for days at a time. Hannah and Sam often spent time with the Cortales family. I believe Sly and Lily were a little desperate to have them around, but I went over as often as possible, too.

That left just Rose, Elaine, Jennifer, Courtney, Liz, and Danielle with me in the big bedroom and Liz and Danielle had been spending time in the mothers’ room. With the new kids’ dorm, we would only be using the nursery for the littlest ones for now.

Rhiannon went into labor on Friday night, the thirty-first of July. Dawn came over and stretched her back after she’d examined Rhiannon.

“Dawn?” I said. “I hate to risk this, but are you pregnant?”

“Did you think you are the only man with sperm on this ranch?” Dawn laughed. “Theresa said it was my turn. And with such a nice Papa running around with the kids all the time, I figured why not. Cathy is pregnant, too, you know. I assume you figured out that Sarah is pregnant.”

“Wow! I had no idea. Cathy, too? I figured Brenda or Louise would be first in that family.”

“Would you two quit talking and catch the baby!” Rhiannon yelled as she contracted.

“Oh, my goodness! This one is in a hurry. Who is catching?” Dawn asked.

“Brian,” Doug responded. “He did the damage; he gets the responsibility.”

“I was just fulfilling my duty,” I said. I got between Rhiannon’s legs. She was beginning to open up. “I never get tired of this view, Rhiannon,” I said.

“Good! I’m planning to sit on your face so-ooooon!” she said pushing. Dark hair showed between her parting lips. In five more minutes, I had my baby daughter in hand. I lay the little girl on Rhiannon’s chest and she immediately latched onto a nipple. Rhiannon had never completely dried up, though the twins weaned themselves after the milk turned to colostrum. Sandy got to hold the cord until it quit pulsing and then cut it. Rhiannon expelled the afterbirth and we covered up. Mom, Dad, and Anna entered the room.

“Claudia and Ken are on their way, Rhiannon,” Mom said. “They should be right behind us.”

“Thanks, Marilyn Mom. Come meet your newest little granddaughter. This is Raven Frost Swift,” Rhiannon said. Raven had finished her first meal and fallen immediately asleep. Mom picked her up and held her while Dawn did the measurements. Then Anna and Dad got to hold their granddaughter before placing her back on mommy’s chest.

Casa del Agua and Casa del Fuego have been drawn even closer together.

Casa del Agua stayed resident in the master suite for a week after Raven was born. The little girl had hair that was suited for her name, black as night. She was a hungry girl all the time, and even though Rhiannon was only feeding one kid instead of two this time, it seemed that Raven could keep her drained. And she had four cónyuge to help out if Raven left any. Rhiannon could feed the clan, but I was glad to have my turn at her luscious tits guaranteed.

Rose wrapped a red thread around Rhiannon’s and my hands and draped a red belt around her. Rhiannon was my cónyuge and an official member of Casa del Fuego as well as Casa del Agua. I sometimes wondered if we shouldn’t have just built one big complex building for all of us, but people liked the smaller homes and the way we could come together and part like a big family spread out over an entire village. I guess that’s what we were.
