I’ve known people involved in Renaissance Fairs since the phenomenon began some forty or fifty years ago. I always loved going to them and making up stories about the people, characters, and exhibitors I saw there. The first fair I went to was in Shakopee, Minnesota, sometime in the seventies. The idea brewed in my mind for forty years until I came up with the village blacksmith and the potter. What better names for them than Smith and Potter?
