Team Manager 1: SWISH!

Chapter 42

DOT PULLED TO THE SIDE of the road twice on her way home to allow her tears to subside enough that she could see to drive. Her husband of twenty years didn’t know who she was. The thought brought a fresh flood to her eyes. She needed to be strong now for both her children and her husband.

Brain damage. The doctor had given her two website addresses to look up what to expect. She’d need to go to work tomorrow so she could use the computer to look them up. Or perhaps Dennis would let her use his. She tried not to borrow his computer on school days, but he’d understand in an emergency. He might even be able to help her look up more references.

She parked in the garage and went into the kitchen. The house was toasty warm and she was glad she’d gotten the heating oil tank refilled. In fact, it was a bit too warm for the night and she set the thermostat down a few degrees. She stopped in her daughter’s room to put a kiss on the precious girl’s hair. Peg didn’t stir and Dot left the room. She stood for a moment outside her son’s room. She didn’t like to invade his privacy, especially this late at night. But she needed to see both her children and make sure they were okay. She quietly opened his door.

The sight should have shocked her but it didn’t. The covers had been kicked down to their waists, exposing the two naked girls cuddled under the arms of her naked son. Instead of being horrified, she thought the sight was incredibly sweet. Maybe because it brought back memories of her high school days with Will. She’d been only sixteen when they started going out and not much more than that when they started having sex at every opportunity. She’d been pregnant when they married at seventeen.

She slipped into the room and pulled the sheet up to their shoulders and bent to put a kiss on her son’s head. His eyes flicked open.

“Mom?” There was a note of panic in his voice.

“Shh,” she said. “Don’t wake your girlfriends.”

“Dad?”

“He woke up. We’ll talk in the morning. Go back to sleep, son.”

Dot closed his door behind her and finally made it to her room and the big empty bed in it. Right then, she wished that Will had taken a second wife or lover. She could use the company just now.

Dennis had frequently awakened in the morning with girlfriends in his bed, and sometimes that led to a little morning fooling around. But he couldn’t remember waking up with one girl kissing him and another sucking him. He doubled the kissing of Judith while he came in Diane’s mouth.

“Oh, wow! What a way to wake up,” he said. “Give me a minute to catch my breath and I’ll return the favor.”

“We’ve got an idea,” Judith said. “Since you just got yours and we don’t have much time, why don’t you do me while I do Diane.” The girls scrambled around so Diane was at the head of the bed. Judith knelt between her legs and started chewing. Dennis got behind Judith and started by just stroking her beautiful butt and opening the petals of her pussy. He hadn’t put his glasses on yet, so the view from this angle in the early morning light was spectacular. He leaned in to taste her wet opening.

“I like this flavor the best of the ones you’ve tried,” he whispered.

“Silly. I didn’t put any flavor… Oh! You mean you like me? My flavor?” Judith squeaked.

“The best ever,” he said and continued to lick as Judith tended to her sister. Dennis paused enough to take another look before he went back to licking. He could just imagine his cock parting those folds and disappearing into Judith. By the time both girls had come, he was hard as a rock. Diane left her sister with Dennis and ran across the hall to the bathroom for a quick shower. Dennis sat on the bed and Judith knelt in front of him.

“Did licking me really get you this turned on,” she asked as she licked her way up his shaft and back down again.

“I think just being in the same room with you could get me this turned on,” he said. “God, that’s nice.”

“Nice?” she asked. “What do you think of this?” She wrapped his cock in her lips and began bobbing up and down while stroking the lower part of his shaft.

“Oh, God! I’m going to… Oh, Judith!” he gasped as a sudden rush of come burst from his cock. Judith swallowed and licked and sucked until she had it all. She rose up and straddled his lap as she kissed him and rubbed her wet pussy on his softening cock.

“Mmm.” she said. “I’m never going to make to my sixteenth birthday. I don’t know how you and Natalie can stand it.”

“Natalie!” Dennis said, standing up and holding onto Judith so she didn’t slide off onto the floor. “Today’s her birthday.”

“Did you get her a gift?” Judith asked, grabbing her towel.

“Just a card. I hope she’s not expecting too much.”

“She’s expecting you,” Judith laughed. “You are the only thing she wants for her birthday.”

The pep rally Friday afternoon was wild. The team refused to put on their uniforms, but wore their warmups over their practice outfits. They were called up one at a time by Principal Conway who acted happy they were in the State Championship game. It was the first time he’d appeared before the student body in a couple of weeks. In fact, since the incident at Temple. He was very careful to be exact and polite as the cheers resounded in the gym. Then he gave them a figurative slap in the face when he enthusiastically introduced the boys’ varsity team and acted happier about them playing in the first regional game on Monday. He not only called them by name, but said something significant about each boy’s accomplishments. The cheers were a little half-hearted and when the cheerleaders were introduced, they started a Wolverine cheer that quickly fell apart when the students yelled, “Angelines!” where the cheerleaders were yelling, “Wolverines!” There might be divided loyalty among the cheerleaders and principal, but the student body left no doubt they were united.

When the bell rang and the students headed out to their buses, the girls went to one end of the gym and started their warmup as the boys half-heartedly stretched at the other end. When the gym was cleared of spectators, the divider between the two halves was pulled and the girls stripped off their warmups and started some serious shooting practice. Dennis fed balls out to the girls driving for a layup as Lana collected the balls from the rebounders who handed them to her. Then Dennis sent them to the three point line for an ‘around-the-world’ exercise in which each girl tried for a three-pointer from five different positions on the line. Every girl made at least one of her shots and Natalie sank all five of hers. Ardith worked the girls on the playbook, drilling them in slow motion until the girls executed perfectly.

“Okay, ladies,” Ardith said as she called the team together to end their short practice session and go over the timing of their Saturday game. They would need to be at the school at 8:30 in order to get taped and ready and head to Des Moines for their 11:00 game against the Wildcats. “Get some rest tonight and be here bright and early in the morning. Hit the showers.”

The team headed for the locker room. Lana went with them but Dennis went with Ardith to her office.

“Coach, I know we still have a game to go, but the girls are all feeling a little letdown from the end of the season,” Dennis said.

“I could see some of it. If they don’t get focused, it will be a tough lesson tomorrow. Any suggestions?” she asked.

“I think it’s partly because they think they’ll all be split up with nothing to hold them together. You could probably stop that.”

“How?”

“Announce the start of track practice on Monday.”

Ardith looked at her team manager for a long pause and then started laughing. “You want me to commit to coaching another quick startup when there are no track meets scheduled and we don’t have any equipment? We don’t have board approval. We don’t have anything!”

“When we bring home the State Championship trophy tomorrow, the board will give approval as soon as a track season is suggested. I’ll bet we could get enough meets scheduled to keep the team together and practicing.”

“It takes a lot more than nine girls to make a track team.”

“I’ll also bet that announcing the start of track practice will result in nine to a dozen more girls who didn’t have the skillset to try out for basketball.”

Ardith shook her head, then looked back at Dennis.

“I need to make some phone calls. Don’t mention a word of this to the girls.”

“Yes, Coach.” Dennis grinned as he left her office.

His good mood was short-lived when he entered the locker room hallway. Lana was pinned against a wall by the three cheerleaders, shaking her head and saying ‘No!’

“Hey! Back off and leave her alone!” Dennis yelled as he ran toward them. Susan looked at him and started to back up a step but pressed against Lana when she heard her fellow cheerleader.

“Or what, shrimp? You don’t have your team of dykes backing you up now. We’re having a party for the varsity tonight to encourage their performance on Monday. Little Lana is going to be our party favor.” She pulled at Lana and the three cheerleaders started to march her toward the varsity locker room. Dennis grabbed his whistle out of his shirt and blew a long and hard blast. As soon as he ran out of breath, he sucked in another lungful and blasted again. And again. By the end of the third blast, Angelines were pouring out of the locker room.

“Now, let her go,” Dennis commanded. This time, Susan stepped back and stood staring at him. Rachel and Linda kept hold of Lana’s arms. There were running footsteps coming from the other direction and the varsity appeared around the corner.

“Ha! I think we have a bigger gang than you do,” Linda barked.

“What’s going on?” Rick asked.

“Your cheerleaders seem to think they can just take Lana so you can rape her at the party tonight.”

“Do you think you can stop them?” Rachel spat.

“Shut up, cunt,” Rick returned. She looked up at his six-six height towering over her. “We’re done playing your games. Let her go.” Rachel looked at him and shoved Lana toward Dennis. The girl grabbed hold of him and the rest of the team surrounded them, all in various stages of undress.

“See if you ever get laid again,” Rachel spat.

“I’ve decided to only have safe sex from now on. Which pretty much means with anyone but you.” Rachel slapped him just as Ardith came from one direction and Coach Byers came from the other.

“What’s going on here?” Byers demanded. Ardith looked at her team huddled around Lana and motioned them back to the locker room.

“There was a discipline problem with the cheer squad,” Rick said. “They forgot the zero tolerance rule.”

“You dick! You made her suck you off just like the others. Zero tolerance? You’re a pig.”

“You told us she agreed to it as an initiation. We never touched her after that,” Si called.

Dennis stood just behind Ardith’s right shoulder as she strode up to the three cheerleaders.

“You three, the cheer squad, are banned from the Angelines’ game tomorrow. If I find out you engineered something without her consent, I will get you expelled,” Ardith growled.

“You can’t ban us,” Linda said.

“I can,” Byers responded. “As athletic director I am hereby disbanding the Bartley High School Cheer Squad. You are banned from all school athletic activities and are not to wear cheer uniforms to school or any school event.”

“Lori and Principal Conway will hear about this,” Susan said, recovering some of her own indignation. She still looked sidelong at Dennis.

“At least one if not both of those two are about to lose their job,” Ardith said.

“Varsity! Locker room now!” Byers yelled. “We need to decide if you’re fit to play Monday’s game.”

The boys filed into the locker room as Ardith stared down the former cheerleaders. They turned sullenly and left the hall.

“You make absolutely sure that girl is never alone,” she growled at Dennis. “Ever!”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Ardith turned on her heel and went to her office to call Superintendent Jones.

There were no cheerleaders at the game Saturday. Rumor had it that Ms. Sanders had abruptly quit and left the school. The boys’ varsity sat in a block and were the loudest to cheer the Angelines.

It didn’t go well. From the beginning, the Wildcats were hitting more of their shots and taking more rebounds. At the end of the first quarter, the Angelines trailed 12-14. By the end of the half, the Wildcats had stretched that lead to five points. The girls came to the locker room a little down. Ardith picked them up.

“You carried too much baggage onto the floor in the first half,” she said. “It’s no wonder you couldn’t shoot with that load on your backs. You all need to take a deep breath and think of the people who are watching you today. Remember the varsity who bowed down to you after our scrimmage? They’re sitting in the stands cheering their heads off for you. Remember the Tigresses? I saw them in a block cheering for you. They’re leaning in to each other saying, ‘Don’t worry. They can do it.’ The Temple coach stopped me before the game to wish me luck and pointed out the entire Diva squad. Where? In our stands. Dennis’s demonstrative friend on the Warriors team is up there leading her team in yelling for us. Every single one of those fans know you can do it. Do you know it?”

“Yes, Coach!” Natalie yelled. She jumped up and faced her teammates. “We’re still playing like we’re pissed at the cheerleaders. Forget them! The cheerleaders aren’t here and we are. Our fans are making as much noise without them as they ever did with them. Our job—our only job—is get out on that court. And what are we going to do?”

“Run run run!” the team yelled.

“Who are we?”

“Angelines!”

“Besides which,” Ardith called out, “You need to get basketball out of your system so you can start track practice on Monday.” The girls let that soak in a second and then yelled, “Angelines!” again.

The team returned to the court with new fire and determination. The Wildcats were caught by surprise. The third quarter was an 11-6 quarter in favor of the Angelines, leaving the two teams tied. But the difference was really made in the final quarter. The Angelines hit the court as if they’d just had a good night’s sleep instead of three hard quarters. Rosie tipped the ball to Natalie who took three steps and fired a fast shot for three points before the Wildcats had even set up. On the inbounds pass, Judith dove between the receiver and the ball, scooping it over to Daniella who jumped up and slammed the ball through the hoop. It was suddenly a different game. Even when they managed to get the ball downcourt and shoot, the Wildcats couldn’t hit the net. They started fouling more frequently, and where they’d hit only four of eight foul shots in the first three quarters, the Angelines hit nine of ten foul shots in the last quarter. The Wildcats hit only three of six in the entire game.

The Wildcats made one field goal in the fourth quarter—a tip-in for two points. The Angelines fired off nineteen points for a seventeen-point victory, 48-31. The fans stomped and cheered the Angelines as they received the Class 3A State Championship trophy and ran once around the entire court holding it high.

The bus ride back to Bartley was loud and raucous. The girls relived every shot of the fourth quarter and then started in on what events they wanted to participate in for track and field.

“I hope you’ll continue to be my assistant team manager for track and field,” Dennis told Lana. He was kneeling in the seat in front of her with Natalie on his left and Judith on Lana’s right.

“Um… I don’t know,” Lana said. They all looked at her. “I mean, I’d like to and all, but I don’t know if I can be an assistant team manager and still compete in an event.”

“Compete? Really?” Natalie said turning around to look at Lana.

“Yeah. I mean if it’s okay.”

“Of course, it’s okay. What event?”

“Well, I’m a pretty good jumper. I’d like to try high jump and long jump.”

“You’re right,” Dennis said. “You might be too busy to be running starting blocks to the track. Let’s see how it goes. You’ll still be part of the team.”

“Wow! How many events do we have to do in a meet?” Judith asked.

“There are nineteen events and the maximum you can compete in is four. That includes relays. So, we kind of need more people for the team. Think we can drum up some more runners?” Dennis asked.

“We’ll have to, that’s all,” Roberta said from across the aisle. “We can’t stop now!”

The locker room was just as happy a place as the bus had been. The girls all ran through the showers while Dennis collected their clothes and put them in his laundry bag. That included needing to help a couple girls out of their bras or panties. Lana even collected a couple sets and shoved them in the bag. Everyone headed out to PJ’s where the Boosters were once again hosting a pizza party for the victorious Angelines. The trophy was placed on display in the center of the café where the game ball was also on display. Every member of the team, including the coach and managers, had to sign the ball with a Sharpie so it could be displayed with the trophy.

“We’re going to need a display case at the school,” Mr. Dietz said. “We have two new trophies. Does anyone know if there are any old trophies we can dig out? These aren’t the first ever, are they?” That started a discussion among the parents and Boosters as to who could remember their school having ever had a winning season. It turned out to have been back in the days when the girls were still playing six-on-six basketball and had won a regional championship. No one could remember the boys having more than a winning season some twenty years ago, though someone thought a baseball team had come up winners at one time or another.

There were still a lot of pictures to be taken. The girls were all wearing their burgundy skirts and pale blue blouses. Dennis had checked in the locker room to be sure they were all wearing panties and bras. Or in Amy’s case, panties and a camisole. She still didn’t wear a bra unless she had to. Of course, Dennis didn’t have burgundy slacks, but he did have a pale blue oxford shirt he was wearing. It had once been a brighter blue, but had been washed so many times it had faded. Now it was perfect.

“Are we having a party tonight?” Dennis asked Brenda.

“Yes. Catch a ride with the Armors. I’m taking Lana home.”

“I sure hope she can come to the party.”

“It’s possible, but I wouldn’t count on it.”

It was five o’clock when everyone finally cleared out of the café. Dennis retrieved the laundry bag from Brenda’s car and moved to Natalie’s car. Natalie sat in the back seat with him and the girls were all still a little giggly. They pulled up to Dennis’s house and Natalie got out. Dennis quickly grabbed the laundry bag and stepped out of the car.

“I thought we were going to have a party?” he said.

“We are,” Natalie answered as she turned to wave goodbye to her sisters, who were driving away. Dennis looked at Natalie and at the overnight bag she had in her hand. “Just the two of us,” Nat said. She took his hand and walked to the door.
