The Hart Family

Nate Hart, 18-yo narrator of the story. 5'12" according to his driver’s license. Brown hair, blue eyes.
Kat Hart, Nate’s 12-yo sister. About 4'10". Brown hair, blue eyes.
Rev. Joyce “Reverend Mother Superior” Hart, Nate’s 46-yo mother, the first female Methodist preacher in Illinois.
Rich Hart, Nate’s 49-yo father, electrician for a local building project.
Deborah Lindal, Nate’s 26-yo sister.
Sergeant John Lindal, Deborah’s husband. In the army.

Cameron Lindal, Deborah and John’s 3-yo daughter.

Lt. Naomi Hart, Nate’s 24-yo sister, studying to be an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force. Wants to be a pilot.
Uncle Nate Mayer, Joyce’s 54-yo brother. Variously said to still suffer from shell-shock from WWII, and to have some kind of job with the Jewish mafia in Chicago.
Grace Mayer, Uncle Nate’s wife.

Hammer (Malcolm). Gang leader in South Chicago who is trying to keep his club non-violent and out of drugs, but is gradually losing the battle.
Nancy Hargrove. Classmate and dance partner of Nate’s when he lived in Chicago. Hammer’s sister.
Theresa Newman. Classmate of Nate’s in Chicago and his fantasy girl when they were developing adolescents. Also danced with Nate and Nancy.
Officer Macalister. Good cop in Chicago who tries to keep peace with the gangs.
Brittany Fleck. Model in Chicago working for Law-Reims Models.
Abe Lawrence. Agent of Law-Reims Models.
Gwyneth Dahl. Model in Chicago working for Law-Reims Models.
